When you first acquire a natural gemstone, you must prepare it for your own special use. Rid yourself of tensions, gemstone powers work best when you are in a relaxed state mentally, physically, and emotionally. Usually a darkened room with your favorite soothing music is preferred (we do not mean "RAP"! Gershwin is nice, or you might try the "Blue Danube" or "Clare de Lune by de Bussy -- easy to find classical music). When you have reached a state of quiet contintment, clear your stone by passing it through the smoke of some incense you find pleasing (Sandalwood or Hickory are good; Juniper or Cedar work equally well for us).
Next, "charge" up the gemstone with your own special energy. Hold it in the palm of your dominant hand and concentrate on your esential need. Visualize your request going down your arm and into the stone. When you feel the energy reach the stone, your stone is ready to work.
You can wear it as jewelry, carry it on your person, (do not let others handle it, as this may create static in your stone's energy!) or even put it under your pillow at night. Your energy flows from your body to be stored in your stone.
After clarifying your stone and setting it to your energy plane, some believers lie down and place the stone on the areas of their bodies that are most in need of assistance. The key to this therapy is to know exactly where to place the stone. For love, you would place the stone near to your heart. For better communication place it near your throat.
